Sennheiser HD800 S High Resolution Headphone
The HD 800 line from Sennheiser is a benchmark for high end headphones, providing a balanced sound signature, wide soundstage, and comfortable design suitable for hours of listening. The HD 800 S is a new tuning of the original and well-loved HD 800, that comes with updated accessories. Along with the comfortable, and replaceable, earpads and headband, the HD 800 S includes both a standard 6.35mm cable as well as a new 4.4mm balanced cable that allows the user to connect to high end balanced DAC/AMP setups like Sennheiser’s own HDV 820.
A product of extensive audio-acoustic research, the HD 800 S tunes the clinical, technically impressive HD 800 sound towards a slightly warmer bass response. This means a more musical, relaxing listen while still preserving most of the clarity of the HD 800. It is a highly detailed, balanced headphone made for the most enthusiastic of music lovers. The balanced signature of these headphones make it suitable for any genre, but the HD 800 S is particularly suited for classical or jazz where it delivers a pristine, critical listening experience.
While the HD 800 S delivers a tight and refined bass response, it is by no means a bass-heavy headphone. If you prefer a thicker, warmer sound, consider the MrSpeakers Ether Flow, and for a more intimate sound have a listen to the Audeze LCD4.
