Consistent Design by Custom Shell Engineers

The MDX30 is the product of Acoustune's engineering team responsible for the ST series custom in-ear shell. Using this custom data, the MDX30 incorporates precise dimensional design and carefully selected materials. Recognizing that most people have elliptical rather than circular ear canals, Acoustune conducted correlation analysis using ear shape data from over 500 individuals. As a result, an elliptical shape was adopted, with a ratio that ensures both a stable fit and a tight seal.

Umbrella Design That Combines a Sense of Airtightness with Comfort

The umbrella section of the ear tip—directly in contact with the ear—is crucial to achieving a secure fit. While increased pressure can improve seal and stability, it can also cause itching or discomfort during prolonged use. To address this, Acoustune gives the MDX30 an elliptical shape. The Material for this umbrella closely mimics the softness of the inner ear canal, reducing stress on the ear.

Additionally, the portion of the umbrella that contacts the ear canal is designed to be flat, which distributes pressure more evenly across a larger area. This design ensures both comfort and airtightness at the same time.

Shaft Design That Ensures Strength and Ear Canal Conformance

Acoustune constructs the shaft of the ear tip from a material that is harder than the umbrella, incorporating internal ribs to minimize deformation within the shaft’s interior. This structural reinforcement allows the softer umbrella section to conform securely to the ear canal, achieving natural sound characteristics with minimal coloration.

The umbrella design also reduces inner-ear pressure, while the elongated shaft is engineered for deeper, more natural insertion into the ear canal—ensuring a comfortable and acoustically consistent fit.
