Description / iBasso Nunchaku Vaccum Tube Dongle DAC
In TUBE output mode, Nunchaku will produce microphonic ringing noise if the unit is tapped while playing music. Additionally, in TUBE output mode the Nunchaku may experience intermittent radio inteference or an elevated noise floor, especially with sensitive IEMs. These noises will usually be covered when playing music, but may be experienced when playing music with quiet passages ie. classical music.
These noises are not present when using Class AB mode.
Dual Raytheon JAN6418 Tubes
The Nunchaku utilises two Raytheon JAN6418 directly heated vacuum tubes, renowned for their compact size, low power consumption, and operation stability.
Unlike most portable products which use 9V or 12V power supplies, the Nunchaku features a 22.5V anode power supply, resulting in increaesed headroom and unlocking the potential of the JAN6418 tubes.
The JAN6418 tubes give the Nunchaku a distinctly analog sound, with a warm, laid back and smooth "tube flavour" that is pleasant to listen to.
Switchable Tube and Class AB Output Modes
In addition to the TUBE output mode, Nunchaku also has a Cass AB amplification circuit. Users can switch between the two output modes to enjoy the warm, sweet sound of tubes, or Class AB mode for a more resolving sound with abundant dynamics.
Careful Tube Selection with APX555
To account for the variability between each vaccum tube, each JAN6418 has been tested by Ibasso with an APX555 audio precision analyser to make sure the tube pairs in each Nunchaku are matched by SINAD performance. Due to the precision matching procedure, only 50 tubes can be matched daily.
PORON Tube Suspension Mount
To reduce microphonic ringing noises, the Nunchaku's tubes are mounted in a "hanging" assembly with PORON industrial urethane.
0.96" OLED Display with Multi-Function Knob
The Nunchaku is equipped with a 0.96 inch OLED display and a multi function encoder knob to easily adjust all available functions. The Nunchaku also has an Android APP for control adjustments.
