A New Standard For  Entry Level

DITA's new entry level dynamic driver earphone has performance that belies its price point, and build quality that is synonymous with the brand.

From the its inception with the Answer, which launched in 2012, DITA has been associated with an unyielding dedication to the single dynamic driver, and excellent build quality.

With Prelude, DITA raises the bar to a performance level unheard of at this price point.

Serving as DITA’s newest entry-level earphones, DITA hopes that Prelude will serve to uplist and augment listening sessions both on the go, and during quiet, still moments.

Construction

In classic DITA fashion, every Prelude shell is CNC-machined from a solid billet of 6000 series aluminum. While ergonomic “custom universal” style shapes are commonly molded from plastics, the use of machined aluminum places strong emphasis on DITA’s expertise in construction and manufacturing.

The three-piece outer shell construction further allows DITA to showcase its dedication to stringent quality control, with the sandwich-style construction only being possible without any imperfections or misalignments.

The front and back halves of the shell are cut extremely precisely, allowing Prelude’s curvaceous shell construction to be seamless. Prelude is also topped off with its keystone—the gorgeous faceplate that sits like the finishing piece to unify the entire earphone together.

Prelude allows DITA to showcase both its technical competence in engineering and its commitment to quality manufacturing. Coupled with a refinement of its manufacturing processes, DITA has also reached a lower price point for Prelude than any other DITA product ever.

With these improvements, DITA opens up a path for lower-cost manufacturing and allows a larger proportion of customers a gateway into DITA products at more affordable prices.

Prelude’s stylish logo is derived from the Gruppetto, a group of notes played in quick succession, used in pieces by master musicians like Beethoven and Chopin to embellish their compositions.

Sound Description

The Prelude’s final sound signature is a combination of acoustic principles realized through mechanical design and engineering, as well as DITA’s matured approach to dynamic driver design.

The dynamic driver mounted inside Prelude is based on the original Truth driver. Updated with dual magnets for greater linearity in power response, this impressive driver produces a mild V-shaped tuning with an impressive focus on technicalities, bringing a classic flagship-level driver into a far more affordable package.

The dual magnet design also allows for a quick response from the driver, giving it a crispy attack and smooth, natural decay—resulting in a life-like reproduction of any track.

The result is a very non-intrusive yet musical bass response across a wide range of genres, and sets a solid foundation for the rest of the frequencies to build upon.

Prelude takes after DITA’s original entry-level earphones, the Truth, with an equally sweet and luscious mid-range, sporting outstanding vocal clarity and a natural timbre to set the stage.

The baffle design—a vent that directs airflow in certain directions—controls the midrange and works to minimize low frequency bleeds into the all-important midrange frequencies. This allows every instrument to have its own place in the space created, enabling each instrument and vocal to be heard in its individual position, creating a presentation that is neither claustrophobic nor cramped.

This results in a midrange that is clear and present without ever being shouty, while maintaining enough low-end to satiate even the most visceral bass lovers.

The incredible treble extension is a hallmark of DITA’s sound and is unmistakably present in the Prelude. Present, yet balanced and inoffensive, the Prelude gives listeners a feel for DITA’s specialty without being harsh, sibilant, or fatiguing.

This airiness gives listeners a sensation of additional headroom, further reinforcing the impressive soundstage of the Prelude.

The technical performance of the Prelude gives listeners accurate and well-defined layering, presenting each individual source of sound independently. The soundstage enhances the listening experience with spatial depth and height, rounding off the technical prowess of the Prelude.

When combined with the versatile tuning, Prelude performs well across a variety of genres and caters to many listening preferences, injecting excitement into the experience it showcases—capturing the hearts and ears of many.

 ANTE DAC-Amp Dongle

Every Prelude will come with its own DAC-Amp dongle, ANTE, as part of the accessory package.

Simple in design yet incredibly capable, ANTE is not just an adapter using a phone’s USB-C analog output, but an entire USB-C DAC-Amp dongle that is an optimal match for Prelude.

Sporting Hi-Res capabilities, ANTE supports up to 32-bit/384kHz PCM decoding, ensuring the highest-quality music files are not degraded through downsampling or compression.

Even more impressive is the extremely low power draw of ANTE, making it highly power-efficient so that connected devices do not suffer from significantly reduced battery life as with traditional analog adapters.

ANTE has a standby current draw of 1.5mA with no music playing, making it inconsequential to power consumption when not in use, and rising to an average of 45mA when active—efficient for both idle and use scenarios.

ANTE works with all USB-C equipped devices, ensuring a highly accessible listening experience with various smartphones, tablets, computers, and more.

With a dark, noiseless background, ANTE provides an extremely clean source signal, pairing beautifully with Prelude for a consistent, transparent sound.

Accessory Pack

The accessory pack for the Prelude includes a variety of additions for the user.

First, the ANTE DAC-Amp dongle is a solid inclusion in Prelude’s accessory pack, providing a simple yet high-performance connection method for users without a direct output.

Next, DITA Select ear tips are provided in two styles, with seven sizes across both types.

The clear gloss silicone tips feature an oblong bore shape optimized for users with more oval-shaped ear canals, allowing for a perfect seal and fit even with non-circular shapes.

The frosted silicone tips feature a more conventional round-bore style, for users who prefer a traditional fit.

The frosted and gloss tips are visually distinct for easy identification when selecting the ideal fit.

A semi-hard zipper case rounds out the pack, providing a secure and stylish solution to store Prelude and its accessories—including additional ear tips and ANTE—in one compact, practical case.
