- Discrete R-2R PCM DAC: Featuring 192 pieces of ultra high precision 0.1% resistors, Cayin's fully balanced 24-bit R-2R DAC supports native PCM up to 384kHz. With ultra-low temperature Coefficient of Resistance (<5ppm/°C), it delivers accurate analog waveforms, reduced distortion, and exceptional dynamic range—for a rich, lifelike sound.
- Discrete 1-Bit DSD DAC: Built with 128 pieces of 0.1% ultra high precision thin-film resistors, the R202's 1-Bit DAC architecture supports native DSD256 decoding.
Auto / R-2R / 1-Bit Output Modes
N6iii R202 supports Auto, R-2R, and 1-Bit decoding modes—designed to meet diverse listening preferences.
- Auto Mode: Smart Switching for Pure, Format-Optimized Sound In Auto Mode, the system automatically selects the optimal DAC architecture: R-2R for PCM and 1-Bit for DSD. This seamless switching ensures each format is decoded at its best, preserving the full character and detail of the original recording for a truly authentic listening experience.
- R-2R Mode: Delivers a rich, smooth, and emotionally engaging sound with a spacious and laid-back presentation—perfect for long, immersive listening sessions.
- 1-bit Mode: Reveals delicate high-frequency overtones with natural clarity, offering a well-defined soundstage and pinpoint imaging for a lifelike experience.
Fully Balanced Differential Signal Chain Quad-Channel Balanced Headphone Amplifier
Built on a fully balanced DAC architecture, the amplifier section uses four OPA1612 and two OPA1662 op-amps to form a true differential signal path. Four INA1620 chips deliver quad-channel balanced amplification with dual-parallel design and four-core balanced drive—ensuring precise, full-differential amplification of analog signals for exceptional detail and dynamic response.
Matrix-Structured Clean Power Supply Design
The R202's headphone amplifier is powered by an LT8582-based high-performance dual-polarity boost supply, delivering ultra-clean power with microvolt-level ripple suppression through LC filtering - significantly enhancing dynamic load response. The DAC and op-amps are powered by a matrix formed from TPS61087 and TPS61240 converters, followed by 7 ultra-low-noise LDOs that independently power the digital, analog, and clock sections-greatly reducing ripple and noise and guarantee a clean, stable power for high-fidelity audio performance.
Quad-Channel Precision Analog Volume Control
Equipped with the NJW1195 controller, R202 offers 256-step, 0.5dB volume control across four fully balanced channels. It ensures ultra-low distortion, accurate channel tracking, and smooth, high-resolution volume adjustment.
PO Output, Nothing But Purity
R202 is designed for direct headphone drive only, with a fully balanced architecture and a dedicated PO output. LO output is intentionally excluded to ensure uncompromised sound purity.
