Which Impedance?

Beyerdynamic DT series headpones are available in multiple impedances. Higher impedances models require higher power amplifiers to reach the same volume. Different versions may also have different cable lengths and earpads.

There is very little difference in sound quality between the different impedance versions. We recommend choosing the right model based on your amplifier to ensure best sound quality and lowest amplifier distortion: 

  • 32 Ohms: For portable devices, like phones and simple digital audio players.
  • 80 Ohms: For PC / Laptop output (ie: motherboard output), USB powered amplifiers or interfaces, midrange DAPs.
  • 250 Ohms and 600 Ohms: AC / Mains powered amplifiers or interfaces, high power DAPs.
